Staff pick

On our hand-picked "where to start" list. Chosen by us, not computed — these are the shows we would hand a parent who is new to this.

Our note — best for: Backseat giggles on a long drive

Kids send in story ideas and a comedy crew turns them into sketches and songs. Reliably silly, and the songs are genuinely good.

How to read this: each number is how many reviews raised that topic in their own words — not a percentage or a score. Bars compare topics within a box only, so the longest bar is whatever came up most here, marked Top. The dots above show how much evidence we have, not how good the show is.

This summarises what reviewers said. It isn't our verdict, and we don't write reviews ourselves. See exactly how every number is calculated.

My fave song is “Bad Taste” Anyway, story pirates pls make a show in miami, Fl. 🤩🇺🇸 Let me tell u my story One day,a little girl named sophie went to a toy store and she got a teddy bear. She named it lila. Sophie loved lila so so much and never wanted to let her go. “The next day”lilacame to life, was she ran away from home. Sophie came home from school and lila was gone OH NO! Meanwhile, lila went to the skate park and saw the other peeps skating and she wanted to skate also but everyone thought she was a real bear so they ran away! Lila was very sad. So she stole one of the girl’s skateboard, because her and the rest of the peeps ran away. Lila was actually really good at skating. Then, Lila tried to go home, but she was lost. Sophie found her a few days later and they became BEST BEST friends! And the lived happily ever after! THE END! 😬 did u like it? it’s great.. but

EDIT: I JUST REALIZED WE CANT SHORTEN IT AS SP BECAUSE THATS THE SOUTH PARK SHORTENING 🥀 I guess p.s before the actual review: tysm, @Therian LGBTQ 4 Life, and @Mplantan, It’s very kind of you to spread my thoughts. @( ◕ x ◕ )@ EDIT ZERO: Woah woah, what is going on? From what I understand, Season 8 JUST ended, and you guys are ALREADY begging for season 9? Be patient, please! They have to write storylines and characters, make decisions, VOICE ACT. I’m sure they’re trying their hardest to make some entertainment for you, and you’re being impatient. Please, make sure you treat them with kindness, and (to the parents) this is probably the only ACTUAL helpful review you will find because others are giving their small children phones and letting them run wild. So the reviews are mostly children-made (which is great, but you learn nothing about it) The following will teach you about the podcast and why your child shall listen to it. (I say shall because this is NOT optional.) EDIT ONE: If you’re looking for a podcast for your children to listen to, power their imagination capacity, and the ability to come up with fun ideas (which is the same thing but pretend it’s not), then SP (Story Pirates) is what you are looking for. I listened to this from when I was 3-7, (i am 11 now, for context.) and my imagination grew stronger by a large amount— in fact, if I hadn’t listened to SP, I wouldn’t have had the ability to come up with my own genuine story— and I don’t mean a podcast episode. I mean a novel. However, I recommend not having someone over 9 start with it, unless they choose to. I fear that I partly don’t like this because I’m too mature for it by now, but seriously, it is a wonderful podcast to nurture creativity into children. I agree with @Mplantan, this should be a bit more educational— SP CAST, if you are reading this, I recommend sneaking little fun facts in that have to do with your adventures. Take example from the tv show The InBESTigators, which teaches you science during stories in episodes. OKAY, this next bit is partly criticism towards the show, and fan base. Don’t get me wrong, SP is great and all, but it FELL OFF. storylines don’t connect, and the only real pull is the stories, not songs, or the actual storyline, but the children’s stories (which is a great feature.) It used to be my favorite, but now I think I’d rather listen to something that isn’t designed for small children. And to the old drama about all the hate on the LGBTQIA+ episode; ONE, let people be people, and ITS A FICTION WORK. TWO, why are you hating on it? It’s about a prince that wants to be a princess from what I remember. you’re not the princess. She’s trying her best. THREE, it’s important for kids to learn about different communities during their growth. The fanbase is bad enough— and when I say that, I mean the older fans. They all say they “want (insert male character) and (insert female character) to kiss and get married. Mind you, this is a podcast for small children, in a range of 3+ I doubt three year olds would like to listen to a wedding. People.. misuse the reviews, but since the fanbase is almost entirely children, that isn’t much of a problem. Though, in general, for small children, this is a wonderful podcast.
